Kuchma Awards Grants of 100,000 Hryvnyas to His Cronies

President Kuchma has signed a decree "On Awarding Ukrainian State Prizes in the Science and Technology Branch for 2004." In the Decree, 143 laureates are mentioned, among whom some remarkable personalities can be found.

In these difficult times, the following individuals have received a 100,000 hryvnyas (about $19,000) each:

AZAROV Mykola Yanovych - member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, first vice-premier of Ukraine, minister of finances of Ukraine - for development and implementation of innovative organizational-economical and informational technologies in the Ukraine's institutional system.

YAROSHENKO Fedir Oleksiyovych - Ph.D. (Economics), head of the State Taxation Administration of Ukraine

PINCHUK Viktor Mykhaylovych (Kuchma's son-in-law) - Ph.D. (Technology) and member of the parliament of Ukraine, and PINCHUK Mykhaylo Aaronovych (father of the afore-mentioned) - CEO of Interpipe, Inc. - for an invested metallurgical group of innovative technologies for steel and iron wheels production, which safeguard high competitiveness of these products in the international transport and metal markets.

Four more "Interpipers" are among the award recipients:

YESAULOV Hennadiy Oleksandrovych - Ph.D. (Technology), CEO of the "Nyzhnyodniprovskyj Piperolling Plant"

KOZLOVSKY Alfred Ivanovych - director of the development institute of the "Nyzhnyodniprovskyj Piperolling Plant"

KIRICHKO Oleksandr Ivanovych - chairman of the supervisory board of the "Nyzhnyodniprovskyj Piperolling Plant"

CHUPRYNA Lubov Volodymirivna - chief of the technology department of the "Nyzhnyodniprovskyj Piperolling Plant"

The 100,000 hryvnyas were even awarded for accomplishments achieved in the service of the Russian Federation:

LYASHENKO OLEKSANDR VOLODYMYROVYCH - chief engineer of the "Adygeya Canned Food Plant" (Russian Federation)

The decree was signed on December 9, 2004.
