Sadly, this is all too true. As anyone who's approached Britain's All Party Parliamentary Group on Ukraine and their Department of International Development for development support in Ukraine will know. Attitudes cover the narrow spectrum between dismissiveness and open hostility - you've obviously arrived to end the junket.

It's a truth discovered by those who crack the veneer of high-minded rhetoric and political spin to reveal that self-serving intentions haven't changed. Thatcherism was repulsive, with two memorable messages - !There's no such thing as society' and 'Always beware of the Russian bear' but it has to be given some credit for honesty. Likewise, the Bush/Cheney cabal is at least transparent in its avarice.

Perhaps we should be looking Westwards rather than Eastwards for the next 'Orange Revolution'?
