Maidan is:
- the alliance of Ukrainian grassroots groups and nonprofits: 107 permanent volunteers; 2000+ temporary volunteers.
- the publication: one of Ukraine's leading interactive publication about Ukraine's civic direct action and politics: 650,000+ unique visitors in December 2004.
- the information resource center: an online 10 Giga Bite digital resource for active citizens; new software for membership-based NGOs; and a databank of innovative ideas for NGOs.
The Organization:
- the Volunteer Civic Reporters - 61 and growing,
- the Civic Activists - 2000+ in the database and growing,
- the Alliance of NGOs - 15 groups and organizations and growing!
Completed projects Y2004:
- Training for activists - 18 two-day training sessions won civic activism and leadership in 18 Ukraine's regions;
- Training and organizing election observers: 2000+ domestic election observers organized and facilitated; 1,400 international observers organized and placed;
- Developing the website publication and related activities: the website traffic increased ten-fold in one year and is growing.
